Imaging and Characterisation

Our Work

The Imaging and Characterisation focus area at ICAM is concerned with improving the associated analytical techniques that are an integral part of studies involving advanced materials. High-quality characterisation encompassing length scales ranging from metres down to the atomic scale, and time scales from picoseconds to years are considered to determine what is happening to a material at a fundamental level.

Investigating the structures of materials using advanced imaging and characterisation techniques enhances understanding of chemical and structural properties and interactions, and their influence on many of the processes that ICAM is investigating.
