Since joining bp in 2011, Kirsty has led global research teams across the United States, the United Kingdom, China, and India, advancing low‑carbon, sustainable technologies. She has held senior research leadership roles including Head of Research for bp biofuels, Director of bp’s biosciences center, and Senior Advisor for biosciences, low‑carbon technologies, and the circular economy.

Kirsty is a non-executive director at the Henry Royce Institute (UK) and the UK’s National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC), where she also chairs the Industrial Advisory Board.

Kirsty holds a PhD in Microbiology & Immunology from McGill University (Canada) and has experience in both academia and a biofuel/biochemicals biotechnology start-up.
