This EPSRC-funded Prosperity Partnership brings together Cardiff University, The University of Manchester, Johnson Matthey, and bp to advance catalyst technologies for a low-carbon future. Catalysts are vital for converting biomass, waste, and CO₂ into fuels and chemicals, supporting clean growth and reducing emissions. The project explores CO₂ activation through homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, alongside innovative approaches such as bioconversion, plasma catalysis, and electrochemical techniques. Insights from this research inform bp’s long-term CO₂ conversion strategy and enable the design of new catalysts and processes, driving sustainable innovation across energy and chemical sectors.
