Our Work
The Safe and Reliable Technologies research mirrors bp’s strategy and support the transition to net zero. There is a focus on hybrid engines, a result of collaborations with Castrol, particularly on understanding lubricants for hybrid engines, with applications also in wind turbine gearboxes and thermal management fluids. Some projects focus on resilient hydrocarbons with a number of projects being refocused from 2020 towards low carbon energy applications.
We continue to employ a suite of characterisation and modelling techniques to study corrosion mechanisms and wear and lubrication, with applications on CO2 induced corrosion (Bioenergy) and lubrication for hybrid vehicles.
