Aldo studied chemistry at Jesus College, Oxford.

He joined bp in 2005 in global lubricants technology, bp lubricants, where he held a number of roles in engine oil lubricant technology.

He moved into group technology where he was secretary for bp’s technology advisory council (TAC), directed many of the activities of ScienceNet, and led the bp-Tallow Chandlers Technologists’ Award programme.

He is currently principal materials scientist, supporting the activities of ICAM and manages the EPSRC ICASE allocation process within bp.
